The Dara Fitzpatrick Memorial Run at Waterford Airport on Saturday 15th September 2018 was  the second year of this very successful event and again showed what great community spirit and teamwork can do. The sell-out event, with 1,000 runners registered, was a really emotional event for many who took part and was a great tribute not only to Dara and the crew of Rescue 116 but all the emergency services.

Speaking at the presentation of their cheque, Frances Power, Dogs for the Disabled accepting the donation from the Dara Fitzpatrick Memorial Run Team, said "I want to thank the DF Run Team and all who took part in the run, on behalf of Dogs for the Disabled for their very generous donation. We are extremely grateful for your support".

Dogs for the Disabled is a unique charity founded in 2007 to improve the lives of children and adults living with physical disabilities in Ireland. They deliver approximately 25 fully trained assistance dogs each year to their profoundly disabled partners.

Dara Fitzpatrick Memorial Run

5K Run

I have run a lot of races and never experienced anything quite like today.. it was so moving and incredible to see such solidarity and respect from all the members of the rescue and emergency services... the venue, the organisation, the guard of honour from a team of hero's, a top class medal, fantastic atmosphere, a very detailed and easy to understand email with all FAQ... hard to believe this was a first time run as it was so well organised... organisers be proud of yourselves this was a hugely successful event, it would be great if you made this an annual event... thank you
